I just got my new T61 SXGA+ laptop.

Before I start using it, any advice on the battery. Should I power on the laptop with the battery and let it drain out and then fully recharge it overnight

    or

charge it full overnight before powering it up?

I'd like to maximize its battery life span.

    Thank you.

    Pics later. :p

Does not matter. Nothing you do will as Li-Ion batts already have their max potential from the start. You neither need to condition the batt and it does not suffer memory effect? If it makes you feel better use it but when you go to bed charge. Won't matter but if it makes you feel better? Couldn't hurt?

Does it help to calibrate every 30 cycles?

Why 30 cycles? You pick a number. Does the same every 60? Yes it does help but a very different question.
