It may be normal, but I want to make sure, is this good for a Vertex 4 SSD? I feel like it should be faster than that.

Is your SSD plugged into a SATAII port? IIRC, the Vertex 4 is a SATAIII SSD, and those speeds are similar to my SATAII Intel 320.

I haven't been able to figure out what SATA version I have. CPU-Z says my chipset is an Intel GM45/GM47

You got SATA II.

Alright, thanks. Guess they are normal speeds then

For your laptop, yes. Though if you stick your Vertex 4 in a newer laptop with SATAIII, it'll jump to around advertised speeds. However, the seq. read and seq. write speeds are mostly irrelevant since that really only comes into play if you're transferring GB-sized files between that and another SSD (HDD or ODD will certainly bottleneck). The important number to look for is the random access times, which are what makes a SSD feel "snappy" compared to a HDD. When I switched out my SATAII Intel 320 with a SATAIII Intel 330 as my main drive, I honestly didn't subjectively feel a difference between the two (other than capacity).
