    Hi all,

Thanks for taking a look. I am stuck on this one. I have a acer aspire 6920g and I have upgraded the WiFi Card for the Killer N 1102 wifi card. Its found in windows and all the drivers are installed its all found and fine but It wont boot up.

Network diagnostics just reports the Radio is off.

I press the button on the right of laptop and it pops up in green No wireless device found.!

I am just removing all drivers and re-installing but I am confused, I have read that sometimes its the actual motherboard/bios that restricts certain things running in the mini PCI-e slot and I may need to cover a pin on the card.

I think I read that on the E-GPU thread.

    any help appreciated.

ok re-installed the intel card and booted to safe mode to remove the original drivers correctly (just in case) rebooted with new device installed and it doesnt work.

Wondering if I can leave the old card in the second PCI-e slot to force the radio on?

will let you know how it works out.

Use cellophane tape to isolate pin20 from the systemboard. That will leave the radio on.

I have put tape over pin 20 but it's still the same.

When I press the radio button in the side of the laptop it says no wireless device.

Not sure what to try next? I have quadruple checked the pin on the board, I have covered the right pin.

I thought some companies blacklist wifi cards and you can only use certain ones... I guess Acer have done that too since I see no reason why your card isn't working...

I did not know that my wifi card isn't available to buy alone.

Been on the Bigfoot forums and they cannot offer any help due to this fact. Bit pissed about that as I bought that item under the impression it was new. Been conned!

anyway, was curious if anyone thought maybe a modified BIOS file would unlock anything to help with this?

Only HP, Lenovo and IBM use bios whitelists as far as I know.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I am confused. I aint sure what to do. Im wondering if the PIN out for the board is different on the actual board to the diagram I used.

I put it over pin 20 which is the bottom, I assumed the bottom is the side WITHOUT antennas on?
