Just got a deal on this laptop at cc. I can double the ram for $100 to 1GB , but I'm concerned this may void my factory warranty or extended warranty that I'm likely to buy also. Thoughts?

P.S. It has a Mobility Radeon 9200 and if I am opening it up can I even upgrade this graphics card?

RAM expansion is designed to be user upgradeable so it certainly would not void a warranty.

Upgrading the graphics card would not be something the mfr. wants you to toy with and would void the warranty.

well i looked into ram installation and the compartment door that is easy to open on the bottom had ram in it? i thought this is where you would put the extra stick in since it was easy to access. i have not been able to determine if this 2 slot capable unit has one 512 in it or 2-256. my luck the extra empty slot is complicated to get to. so if anyone has info on zt3200 series???

I too have an HP zt3000. This may be a great site for most notebooks, but you need to head over to the x1000 Forums. The site is http://www.x1000forums.com.

They have lots of info there including the breakdown of the computer with pictures. I have upgraded both the hard drive and the memory in my computer and if the bottom slot is full, you will have to remove that chip to upgrade. You have the 2-256 configuration and will have to sacrifice a chip. I would recommend that you just upgrade the bottom slot to 512 and stay at 768. You can upgrade the other chip, but it's more in-depth disassembly and voids the warranty.

As far as graphics, you cannot upgrade the graphics in any zt3000/x1000. I think the model you have includes the most advanced graphics in a zt3000.
