My laptop shipped today! Should arrive by the end of the week.

My question is, I'm getting my 4GB DDR2 RAM tomorrow: Should I install it as soon as I get my latpop out of the box? Or should I set up Vista and then install it? Would it matter?

Doesn't matter when you do it, it will work just fine anytime.

    It doesn't matter.

Remember to run memtest86+ for a few passes though. You can burn it on a cd and linux install discs usually come with it.

If you do it before it might make setup a bit faster.

Technically, like everyone else has said, it doesn't matter, meaning it won't affect the performance of your system. However, I would do it afterwards, and make sure the computer runs fine on a stock configuration.

It doesn't matter when you install it......., but whenever you install it, make sure that you test it using the memory checker that comes as part of the BIOS and with the OEM supplied program and memtest86+.....
make sure use these programs to test your memory with different combinations of modules in slots.
