New firmware 1.23 for OCZ Sandforce drives has been published on OCZ forums.

Main things are fixes to SMART attribute about reporting correct drive life and fixed sleep-issues.

General warning: Apply on own risk and read the instructions well.

If anyone performs this update please run ATTO before and after and compare to see if it affects performance.

    Thanks!

I will run an ATTO bench and post results.

I wonder if this would have fixed the "not-detected on boot" that was plaguing me the few weeks that I owned a Vertex LE. Oh well. Water under the bridge, since I'm selling it.

Pfff I just ran an ATTO bench before the update I my writing speed was all over the place (160 Mb/s MAX). It´s over with this JJB´s tweaks and similar crap to gain +5-10Mb/s.

I guess I´ll have to erase and reinstall W7...

Yep I read that. So it gives a BSOD. Not a big problem I think.

On a related note, I'd like to know if this update has any impact on the 4K read/write performance on HM55 and similar notebooks without having to do any sort of tweaking.

I had the same problem with my new Vertex 2 yesterday and I also got BSODs before and after firmware update. My CPU temp went up high too. I'm going to put it as a secondary drive and see how it goes.

Not to take this thread off-topic, but my Vertex 2 60GB won't boot. It won't even get past POST. I plugged it into my desktop and it isn't even recognized by Windows Disk Management. I had not done updated any firmware yet. I started the post here.

Maybe this is the same issue everyone else is having then? I just requested an RMA from OCZ. I have no other way of determining if the drive is dead, but the fact that it can't even detect it in another machine as a slave drive...
