    Hi guys.

I decided to replace the standard drive that came with my Dell Vostro 1400, because of noise problems. So now I'm looking for a quiet, affordable, minimum 120GB and 5400RPM hard drive. Since not every harddrive is avaliable in every country, I have to refer you to this danish hardware site(It's in danish, but I'll hope you guys can figure it out :) ). I'll be glad if anyone can recommend a drive on the list for under $125 (650 kr.) (The price is listed under "Pris").

If more information needed, feel free to ask.

    Thanks in advance.

holy cow! so many to look through.....

I use a hitachi myself.....one thing i noticed on the site was the diff number for the hdd......when you look at the details....make sure you check the release date and get the latest ones..... meaning the newest generation of hdds....which also means.... cooler running, and better reliability.

I quite like my Seagate Momentus 5400.3 ST9120822AS 120 GB.

I've heard that samsungs are quiet as well.

I recommend Western Digital above any other drive because they are so well made and quiet.

There are a few WDs on that page - any one that has a SATA connection is fine.

Yeah I know there is quiet a lot to look through, but all of these meets my minumum requirements (except that I don't know which are quiet). Seems like it doesn't really matter which I choose, if only it's relative new.

Thanks for the replys so far.

Are Hitachi's louder than all the other company's? I heard that they are the fastest, but also the loudest...

I have an 80GB 7200RPM Hitachi in a test notebook. It is very 'clicky' and the drive is quite audible. It is fast but noisy. Seagates are significantly quieter.
