    New heatpipe for E1705 Merom upgrade ?

    I can't find the thread here again (RE: installing a Merom on the E1705),
    but I am getting ready to purchase a T7400 - and I am wondering if people that have upgraded thier E1705's to a Merom have had to use a different heatpipe/cooling mechanism from Dell.
    Also, could you give me warnings of pitfalls anyone has experienced in doing the upgrade.

    No, you shouldn't need a new cooling solution. The Core 2 Duo's should run cooler at the same speeds as the Core Duo's. Why do you want to put in a T7400 though? Do you need 64bit or something? You almost certainly won't notice a huge speedup unless you're doing Folding@Home work or scientific computing of some kind.

    How much RAM do you have? How fast of a hard drive? Those two upgrades usually give a much more perceptible increase in performance over a processor.
