Whats the major differences between the intel Core 2 T series and P series, for example T9300 and P8600
-
Other than the clock speed, the power consumption. The T line uses 35W. The new Montevina introduced P line uses 25W.
-
why so serious prasad
-
and what does this mean, the battery life will be longer on the P series sure but will a large amount of performance be lost?
-
The Front Side Bus : T series have 800 MT/s while the P series have 1066 MT/s
-
The T9400 and T9600 have 1066 FSB
-
-
So do the Ts outperform the Ps in a large way?

Just to add a bit more to the conversation there are T & P lines for Montevina the only difference is the thermal profile.
The current Montevina chipset is the PM45 it uses 1066fsb cpu's and can support DDR2 800 at actual 800mhz speeds.
It of course can host the older Santa Rosa stuff if you so choose.
edit: here I took this from newegg's site pictures explain things better than words for many people. The G50 I just ordered comes with the T model.
-
My guess is that they will have the same performance (since they have the same frequency). The P is more expensive just because it consumes less power.
-
I wonder if there is any actual difference. I highly doubt there is much difference in design (if any). Probably just binned at a higher threshold since almost all CPUs have undervolting headroom.
-
Does $425 to upgrade from a P8600 to T9400 seem reasonable? thats what it costs on the T500s
-
Depends how you define reasonable. I'm pretty sure it isn't worth it, but that's just my opinion.

edit: BTW suggested prices of the CPUs are: P8600 is $241 and the T9400 is $316. -
