which processor is better in terms of battery life & perfomance (both weighed equally)?
Amd Turion 64 mobile MK-36 (2.0 GHz/512KB)
or
Intel Core Solo T1350 (1.86 GHz/2MB L2 Cache)

probly the intel my Amd Turion 64 mobile ml-40 2.2 runs down pretty quick bout 2hrs-3hrs of bat life if watching amovie or playing a low res game.

i say go for the amd turion because it is higher power (Ghz) and it is 64 bit as well

In terms of battery life, the MK series Turion 64 has a TDP of 31W, while the Core Solo has a TDP of 27W. I'd say the Intel system will have the advantage in terms of battery life.
As far as perfomance goes, the original Core series (Solo/Duo) has performance which is roughtly the same, if not slightly faster, than a comparable K8 series (i.e. Mobile Athlon, Turion) processor at the same clockspeed. I'd say they will offer more or less the same performance in most synthetic benchmarks.
Of course, the Turion has 64-bit support, however, even with Windows Vista out and about, most consumers would not benefit from a 64-bit OS. If anything, unless you have the need for over 4GB of memory for your applications, there simply isn't any performance benefits from running a 64-bit OS. Also, application and driver support is severly lagging behind, and this won't change for a few years to come. Hence, even with 64-bit CPUs in most shipping systems today, 32-bit OS will still be the default OS of choice for many.
That being said, it is all about the overall package when buying a laptop, and most often on lower/mainstream laptops, AMD systems will come with an ATI or NVIDIA integrated graphics chipset, while Intel systems come typically with the Intel GMA integrated graphics chipset. If the choice between the processors are roughly equal, then I'd go for whichever system has the better graphics card, and in most cases it'll be the AMD system.
If you don't care less about 3D graphics performance, then, the Intel system should suit you fine, and will most likely yield a better battery runtime. -
DEfinitely the AMD. there is 64bit and a better memory architecture in the AMD as opposed to the Intel Core Solo. If you can, go for dual core, though the better one out of the two is the AMD. I doubt the AMD can suck out a considerable amount of battery life as opposed to the Intel. Depends on the notebook model.

I'd choose intel core solo mainly only because one advantage is you can upgrade it to a core 2 duo later when I want to. but that is if you would be upgrading it, since it does take some work opening your laptop.
New notebook...which processor
