I recently upgraded to 4GB of OCZ notebook RAM and after booting up the computer the fan has been running the entire time. before the fan would run for a while on AC and then stop, but now it's just continued running.

can anyone tell me why this is happening? i doubt the added RAM is increasing the internal temp to the point that the fan has to be running constantly.
is this an issue with the brand of the RAM, or is it some other issue?

A similar problem cropped up with a Sony and an HDD swap - the fan stopped working though with the new HDD only...

Have you tried swapping in the old RAM?
Does the laptop behave normally angain?
