    Hi all,

I am taking the plunge and changing the factory 80 GB HD for a new Seagate 320 GB in my T60. (Thanks to everyone who offered advice on a previous thread on this topic!)

This is what I was planning to do, but I realize I don't know some of the steps:
    1. download the free Seagate DiscWizard software. (Hopefully it will have step by step instructions for how to copy the old HD. This is where I would like some guidance!)
-after the steps taken to clone the old HD to my external HD (huh, how do I do this? will DiscWizard do it?!?!?)

    2. Remove old HD, install new HD. Remove 512 mb ram, install 2 gb ram. (can I also do the ram at the same time as HD without making problems?)

    3. put the old HD image into new HD (which is already installed in my T60 at this point)

    4. erase the old HD (how?) and install into the new enclosure I bought for it, and use it as backup/portable HD.

    5. will the bigger HD run hotter? do I need to add anything to help cool the HD?

    6. Any other advice is greatly appreciated and welcome!!!!!!
    Thanks!

    sfoanna,

I've moved your thread to the Hardware Components and Aftermarket Upgrades section where you should receive better assistance.
