I have an HP Pavilion ze4500 which uses PC2100 DDR memory, so my question is, if i put a 512mb DDR2 533Mhz will it be compatible?

And if is it, will it perform better than my old DDR?

Oh, and what does the processor FSB has to do with memory and speed.

    Thanks.

No, you cannot mix DDR ram with DDR2 / You cannot put DDR2 RAM into a DDR slot. In otherwortds, your stuck with PC2100 RAM or slower.

Normally yes, but it would downclock to pc2100 speed anyway.

However, your notebook is not showing official support for pc2700 ram on the HP Parts site (so it may not work at all).
