    hi!
i have just installed bluetooth into my laptop with a new genuine bluetooth module for this laptop. it is supposed to be able to support stereo audio, but when i connect it to the stereo i wish to play it through it is very jumpy at best, only playing audio for 1 out of every 3 seconds. It is not a problem with the stereo as i connected my ipod to it with bluetooth after and it played perfectly. i don't know what it could be i have fiddled with all the settings for the device and in the bluetooth settings etc. also, i have installed the official acer bluetooth driverpack for it from their website, yet each time i turn the bluetooth on it comes up asking to search for and install 'bluetooth peripheral device' drivers. any ideas or help would be appreciated :)

ok i found out about the 'peripheral device' and got that sorted, but it still has jumpy audio and i don't have a clue why. the audio stream is the only reason i bought this thing.....

Is it 'jumpy' when you're close (less than 10 feet away)? Or only when you wander further from your notebook?

Bluetooth is not reliable over 10-15 feet in my experience.

its the same when i put the laptop on the stereo so the bluetooth devices are only about 5cm away from each other as being 5 foot away

All I can suggest is drivers. But the combination of bluetooth module and what they're connecting to can also be an issue (as you're discovering, unfortunately). Is there anyway to use different models/brands of the devices you're using with the bluetooth module? Otherwise, it seems like this is just how it is for your particular set of components.

I know a lot of people who bought/returned headset after headset until it 'worked' for the notebook/cell phone/whatever they had - nothing could be tweaked to make it work for them either.

Sorry I wasn't able to help more, but nobody else is/was offering any suggestions for you.

    Good luck.

What type of BT module is it? The Windows BT stack is a COMPLETE joke btw.

If you want to test if its your drivers just go download a trial of bluesoleil its the best bluetooth stack out there and it works with almost every piece of hardware.

However what you stated is not sounding like software/drivers as it would just work or not work. That intermittent signal issue sounds pure hardware related, signal not strong enough or antenna not working correctly. Remember things like wi-fi can also cause interference with bluetooth so turn off your wi-fi connection to test that and dont be near an access point.

I was going to say the WIDDCOMM stack because it's free, but bluesoleil does work VERY good.

You can also check in the settings on the wireless router for a "Bluetooth Coexistence Mode". I had this same problem a while back, and it was because the software stack on the computer wasn't authenticating right with the other device and it was connecting at a 1.1 mode, not 2.1 or 2.1+EDR. Without 2.1 or 2.1+EDR I guess it didn't have enough bandwidth to stream without hiccups.

well anyway, widdcomm didnt work. same as before. last thing to try is open up the laptop and let the bluetooth chip dangle out... see if having nothing surrounding it solves it... [which wouldnt really as i can't have it hanging out the laptop for the rest of time]

Every iteration of bluetooth is either focused on more power savings or higher bandwidth.
1.1 - i'm not sure of the bandwidth but it's low...
    1.2 - is about 721 kbps
    2.0+EDR - is about 2.1 mbps
    2.1+EDR - is about 3 mbps

Sorry it's not working for you though!

Toshiba is 2nd to none best bluetooth stack IMO only one that is better is Bluesoleil but bluesoleil is not free.... Toshiba is free if it came with your device. Well there are some devices that come with Bluesoleil too but I never had one.

I agree. The toshiba bt stack is well known to be a very good stack.

haha second to none, apart from being second to bluesoleil??? :) i get what ya mean....
if it turns out its just crappy bluetooth module, i have the cable and the connector, any (relatively brainwork free) way of taking the usb one apart and soldering into this and having it inside connected via the internal connector?

FINE I'LL DO IT MYSELF :) jkz
got the pins matched up, successfully ripped apart a half functioning internal bluetooth module and a fully functioning usb module to make a fully functioning internal acer bluetooth module ! running off of a toshiba stack. not that anyone cares :D just didnt want the thread to end unfinished. works excellent with the stereo. thanks to xgx2007, viciousxusmc and tilleroftheearth for your thoughts! i've repped where i feel its needed :)

    LOL ..

while you're at it, why not making an internal USB hub ? it'd be a great addition to the machine!

    anyway, great job!
