I was wondering when the estimated road map is for the next new (not updated core i7) Intel notebook chip is? Also, any details on how much better it will be than i7/i5?

Arrandale just came out so don't expect an update anytime soon.

The next new Intel is Sandybridge and its on the desktop side, not mobile.

Sandy Bridge is for desktops and notebooks. And, it is rumored that Sandy Bridge will hit notebooks first in Q1 2011 before it hits desktops.

Looks like AMD is going to be first with native USB3 in their chipsets.

Its the CPU that needs to change but the chipset.

Not firm yet, but this should be roughly right.

    Sandy Bridge B2(S1366/High End): Q2 2011

    H2(S1156/S1155, doesn't matter they should be both socket compatible/Graphics): Q1 2011

Mobile Sandy Bridge: Q1 2011, shouldn't be far from H2 release. Based off H2.

USB3.0 and SATA3 might be possible on Calpella refresh in Q2 of this year.

The mobile platform name for Sandy Bridge is "Huron River". Dual and quad cores at 32nm and the gpu will get integrated into the cpu.

Yes, so far there are 3. They are the Core i5-520UM, Core i7-620UM, and Core i7-640UM. More will be announced when Arrandale refreshes later in the year.

i dont think any of those are culv replacement. rather they replace SU9x00 series. i dont think culv cost that much. i5-520um itself costs 241.

Well, the SU9x00 series are the highest end of the culv's. And those are the culv replacements, its just that the replacement isn't happening fully until summer when Arrandale is refreshed and more cpu's are announced.
