    I can see the need for computers in circa 2021 'requiring' the use of DDR5 RAM. In addition to (the hopefully mature at that time...) Optane storage and RAM components on the same system. Just like current platforms 'require' the use of SSD's to extract the most performance/responsiveness possible today.

    If we had an i7 QC or better (mobile) platform today capable of 128GB or more of RAM coupled with a couple of TB's or more of fast full duplex capable storage (i.e. Optane)... that would almost be worth whatever the market could bear (top 0.1%).

    However, where we are now (with 'just' Optane visible in the near/actual future...) isn't too bad either. ;)

    I look forward to these evolutionary progress jumps just as much as I do the more disruptive ones. Taken together over time, it is always interesting to see how much tech has moved forward... even though at the time of each baby step it seems we're still in 1990...
