i put a new harddrive in my dell latitude D600 laptop. the drive came from another dell laptop. i deleted all partitions and reformated the entire drive and installed win 200 pro. now when i took out the cd and restarted the laptop it says "no bootable devices found". but if i insert the win 200 pro CD it asked to press any key to boot from CD, but if i dont press any keys windows will boot from the hard drive normaly. I just cant figure out whats going on. i used the recovery console and did the fixboot and fixmbr. now iam stuck please help. thanks

are the two dells the same model? Presumably not. Check the BIOS, the boot selection may be set to ignore the HDD

i dont see an option to enable or disable the hard drive. i just make the HDD the first in the boot order and it skiped it as if it wasnt there then asked if i want to boot from the cd but i did press anything and it just boot from the HDD as if nothing was wrong.

Not sure if that's part of the normal setup process. I seem to recall this hapenning to me at one point... if it keeps doing it then it sounds like the install has not worked properly, or there is slight damage to the disk. I'm only guessing here though.

I'm leaning towards physical damage to the disk
