Like the title says, I cant seem to check the health status of my week old 64gb Samsung 470 SSD. At first, I thought it needed a couple days or so to calculate the health status, but nothing has changed.

CrystalDiskInfo just says "Unknown" under health status and SSDLife says "Unfortunately, your SSD does not return any health status".

Any ideas? Is the drive bad? Should I RMA it? I cant seem to find anyone else on the net that has this problem with this drive.

Its running the newest firmware thats on the samsung website.

    Heres a picture of CrystalDiskInfo:

    It just doesnt seem right.

Some SSD manufacturers have not released documentation for how to read the SSDs health status from SMART attributes.

I don't know if the Samsung 470 is one of those, but I wouldn't consider your SSD to be bad as many SSDs do not use the standard numbers for SMART attributes.

    Thats interesting.

I read a review on amazon that a person said they were able to see their drive health but when they updated it to the newest firmware, it went to "unknown". It looks I might return this drive. I cant really rely on a drive that I dont know what the health is at.

For all I know, it could be at like 10% lol.

One of the reasons why my first SSD was Indilinx Barefoot based and the second was a C300 was because I found that both had health readings available beforehand.

Mine shows up "Healthy",same program, temperature is okay,,click on unknown---make sure the settings are default,I'm running 64 Bit windows 7 Home Prem, Quite true smart settings are unknown in SSD's.
Run Crystal Disk Mark and check read and write if near 250mb-read 170mb-write-Sequential , its okay.
CrystalDiskMark Info also has been flagged by Windows Defender as having adware in it,,,,a file called candy something or other, Defender removed this file as adware in my install, just recently.

    Cheers
