    Hi,

Blank screen on start up..managed to actually get some video today but back to square one with just the power light on. Is there any way I can boot from a usb pen... having said that, I don't know what I'll need in the way of files to go on it.... Making it brief because I feel like a right idiot.

    Thanks

    Does your computer POST?

You just say it boots to a blank screen, but do you get the manufacturer splash screen? If it does you may have either a bad OS or a bad HDD. If you get NO video then you have a hardware issue.
