I am looking at buying used Toshiba Qosmio laptops on ebay and sometimes I see broken ones for around $600+-. They usually say no ac adapter, no battery, no hard drive/caddy. And does not power on, or powers on but no video.
It seems you can get a hard drive for $60, caddy for $25, ac adapter $40, and battery for $60. About $200 or less in parts for those. I know it's kind of a vague question without more info but I'm just wondering what could cause no video? Bad LCD, video cable, graphics card, motherboard? And how much would it cost to fix?
I'm trying to see if it would be worth it to buy a laptop with the above description to fix up, and if I would save money in the end. The ones in good condition seem to go for no less than $1000-$1200+ usually and I'm trying to spend $800 or less.
Thanks!

Personally, I would wait for deals and not buy broken on E-bay, there can be alot more problems and when you buy it from there it is as-is. So if you buy and fix everything and the CPU is shot, then you just lost your money.
Just my $.02 -

The LCD would be upwards of $400-600 to replace, with the motherboard being around 400+(depending on whats there, like the video card, etc.)
It's not worth it unless you have spare parts and a will to fix it in the first place. -
I know someone who does laptop repairs, he said only those who do their own repairs are primarily the ones who buy broken laptops. (but then again, how would he know?) lol but it does make sense....
No video/display on laptop? How to fix?
