Minimum Requirements for game
Operating System: Windows XP 32(service pack 2), Windows Vista 32 OS.
Processor: 2.4 GHz Single Core Intel or AMD equivalent processor.
System Memory: 1GB RAM (XP) 2GB RAM (Vista).
Graphics Card: 256MB DirectX 9.0c compatible video card (shader 2.0 or higher).
Sound Card: Directx9.0c compatible sound card.
Windows compatible mouse & keyboard.
15 GB free uncompressed hard drive space.
I have a 2.0 core 2 duo.
My question is if a 2.0 core 2 duo is faster than a 2.4 single core. Don't get specific because I am a noob but lets use numbers
If a 2.4 single core is a 5 on the 1-10 scale where would a 2.0 core 2 duo fit on the same scale?
-
If a 2.4GHz single core is 2.4 on a 1-10 scale, a 2.0GHz Core2Duo is 4. (I'm not sure how multicore optimisation factors in, but that's technical stuff)
Basically, yeah, your CPU is up to the job. -
So the 2.0 core 2 duo is better....Thanx

Yeah the Core 2 Duo is better, plus the developers of Empire Total War have said there game is two core (and perhaps quad core) optimized. I plan on running it on a 1.8ghz 2 core processor, i am just aware that I may have to limit unit sizes.

Indeed Core 2.0 core 2 duo is better, you can run it fine.
-
a 2Ghz Core 2 duo will completely annihilate a 2.4Ghz P4
Do not even worry about it

I think this is important with older games:
If older games are single thread a dual core only has the actual "more calculations" per "step" advantage.
Speaking of processors - the requirements on the boxes are getting better as in more accurate too.
If it says 2,3GHz (or so) on the box, then you need something pretty close.
I found that on some games it was a touch dodgy...
(said minimum 1.5P4 and was messy on 1,6P M) -
If you could strip a core 2 duo so it only had one core. I would say a 1200Mhz core would be as fast or faster than a single 2.4Ghz pentium based cpu.

No question is a noob question...

PS - I also agree that the core 2 duo will annihilate the p4
Noob Question but please help
