Hi there!!
Im going to get a AMD 64 X2 TL58 CPU. IS that enough for MS OFFICE, PHOTOSHOP, and video editing?
How does it compare to a INTEL T8300?? is there really such a noticeable difference for such a price difference (200)??
thanks!

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
If you're doing real heavy PS work or video editing you probably want something better than the Turion. The T8100 is significantly faster, but I don't really know if it's worth an extra E200 (can't make a Euro symbol). Look for a T9300 or so for that sort of price markup.

The TL-58 will be fast enough for those applications, but a T8300 will be much faster than the AMD. The performance difference is probably around 30%.
The Intel is a much faster processor than the Turion.
Will you need all of that horsepower, no, You can always use propane injection.
Back on topic, you will need a pretty decent harddrive to take the abuses of video editing. I suggest a 250gb 5400rpm drive, a 320gb 5400rpm drive or a 200gb 7200rpm drive.
As far as video editing goes, the T8300 will be able to render much faster than the AMD turion will.
What laptop are you looking at?
Keep in mind you will need more than an integrated video card to do video editing and advanced photoshop. Iwould say that anything over an 8400Gs would be enough.

If you are using photoshop, you will need plenty of ram, something around 3GB or 4GB(if possible).
On the processor note, I would recommend an Intel Platform rather and getting a T7300 or above (T8300 would be ideal) would do for now if you are on a tight budget. It will still be faster than the Turion, and will have plenty of room to upgrade the processor when you actually have money or desire more power. If you route the AMD way, you will be limited to a small number of processor upgrade options. -
its a HP TX1300 (tablet PC).
It comes with a AMD T58 (1,80Ghz), 2GB RAM, and a nvidia go 6150.
I need this laptop for my University life (4 years, expect one or two more), i will use it for OFFICE, some basic Video editing (Pinnacle, Ulead, maybe Premiere pro 2.0...) and some PHOTOSHOP.
Furthermore, a little gaming, just PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2008 and maybe SAN ANDREAS
do you reckon this CPU is enough for everything i need??
thanks! -
Shadowfate Wala pa rin ako maisip e.
It can run Photoshop and Ulead Video Studio 11 well. She aslo plays Sims 2. on it. I think San Andreas is not a major GPU hog since I see my classmates play it on a laptop with only an integrated one. -
Well that laptop you choose, you can overclock.
You can overclock since it has an nvidia based chipset.
You should be able to overclock that 1.8Ghz turion to 2.0 to maybe even 2.2Ghz.
This would be good, so you can stay ahead of the game, and spend less money.
However, the T8300 is much more powerful, so even if you overclock the amd, the intel will still be faster.
The system you choose with the AMD should have enough power for your needs.
Just configure it with a fast harddrive and your system will have plenty of power.

More RAM will help more than anything. You'll need to clean install 64-bit Vista (see this sticky in the HP forum here for instructions on how to go from your current 32-bit Vista to its 64-bit equivalent) if you want to use 4GB, which is what I'm running in my dv9000z (also a GeForce 6150 chipset notebook). I recommend buying two Crucial DDR2-667 2GB SODIMMs. You can use them even if you don't install 64-bit Vista, you just won't be able to access all of the RAM.
Given the neat new notebooks that are coming out around June/July (perhaps not tablets though) I'd keep what you have for now. RAM is amazingly cheap so no need to wait on that.
Not enough horsepower?
