I noticed there is little to no discussion on the Corsair Performance Pro drives. I was looking at upgrading my Crucial C300 to the Corsair as soon the price dips a little more. I was hoping to see some chatter on this drive before I completely commit to it. Any input? Thanks!

The only drive I have ranked above the Corsair Pro is the Plextor Pro. Top drives out there at the moment imo.

The Corsair Performance Pro basically missed the spotlight. It's always had to share the spotlight with the almost identical Plextor M2P which was released at around the same time, and on top of that, Corsair's reputation, at least in the SSD market, has been greatly damaged by their long association with Sandforce.

The drive was and still is excellent, but it failed to separate itself from the other high performance Marvell controller based SSDs that have been popular lately. Also, it's since been eclipsed by newer offerings in this category like the Plextor M3P and potentially the Vertex 4, if it proves reliable.

Makes me wonder if Crucial clearing inventory in preparation for the release of a next-gen drive with Marvell's new 9187 controller...

    I hope so, anyway :)

Thanks for the input. I have a Corsair coming this week. Looking forward to seeing the performance differences. I feel like my C300 is getting eclipsed!

I got a Plextor M3P 128GB for $162 on special. Corsair Performance Pro just hit $200. I feel like the Performance Pro & M3P are priced beyond reason; a M4 or C300 do almost the same job for much cheaper, same with a M3 on sale.

If you think about it, given the nature of desktop workloads any SSD from the current generation + the past 2 generations will "do almost the same job"

Yes, but I was referring to potential new customers looking at Marvell based SSDs.

Upgraded to the 11.5.0.1149 beta drives on Station-Drivers. Nice little bump again. All in all I am happy with the Corsair!

Any chance you're using RAID-0 over SSDs w/ the new beta drivers?

I'm looking for anyone who's tried out the "TRIM" enabled feature of these drivers over any kind of RAID.

No. I only have one drive. I think it even says in the readme that TRIM is not enabled on the firmware yet.

Can you elaborate on this? What is the quote from the Readme? Does TRIM over RAID requires a BIOS update?
