This is really a tough one. Each notebook manufacturer has their good and bad notebooks... but a few come to mind. These are NOT in any particular order...

    IBM/Lenovo
    Asus
    Fujitsu
    LG
    Samsung
    Apple
    Panasonic
    Twinhead (Durabook)

I think there was a thread on this a while back, may try doing a thread search.

I'd say that Lenovo [Thinkpad], Fujitsu, Apple, Asus are at the top.

^^That guy posted some great brands. :D

You kinda left out HP. At least their business models are generally fine. Also Toshiba's business models.

it sounds like you're researching notebooks to purchase. if you fill out the "What Should I Buy" FAQ at the top of the Hardware forum, your research will be much more focused. there's a place in the FAQ to address build quality.

otherwise, asking questions like "what brands are good" can get some broad answers that don't really speak to your computing needs.

    good luck.
