I am in the market for a cooling pad for my 14" widscreen. How will a widescreen and 12-cell battery affect my decision? The widscreen would stick out of the sides won't it? Won't the 12-cell battery cause a problem with trying to install a cooling pad? Thank you for your assistance! :)

If I was you I would compare the dimensions of your notebook with the dimensions of the cooler you are looking at...you should be able to tell if there will be a problem. I have a 15.4" widescreen Acer that sits on a LapCool2. The notebook is larger than the cooler by about 2" long ways and maybe 1/2" depth-ways (yeah, I know that's not a word, or even really close to a word), but it looks fine (you can't really see the cooler unless you get down at the level of the desk, and the notebook is really sturdy when sitting on the cooler.

As far as whether your battery will affect which cooler you get, it shouldn't. As long as your notebook sits flat on a desk, it should sit flat on a cooler (that is roughly the same footprint).

Also, with the LapCool2 you don't install anything, you just place the notebook on top of the cooler...i.e. they aren't attached in any way.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have additional questions.

Okay then...that is a beast. In this case you can probably still use a cooler and just won't use the elevation tabs at the back. Depending on where your laptop vents are and which way it will cool the best, you may need to reverse the fans on whatever cooler you get....however this is easy.

I would think a cooler would work fine by just sitting flat beneath your laptop. My LapCool2 is approximately 3/4" tall, thus it would raise your notebook (universally) by this much.

I am getting a cooler for gaming. I read that my northbridge could overheat with my integrated graphics. My fan is on the extreme left in the middle part of the chasis. I'm afraid a standard cooler won't get air to my fan. Is there a laptop cooler made for widescreens? I don't see why not. I'll keep looking.
