I replaced the SATA HDD on my laptop (too noisy).
I now want to add this drive to my desktop SATA system.

    Is there mounting kits available?
Now I have it zip tied in just to see if it works.
I plugged into the motherboard via a SATA cable but nothing. It needs power I guess but the rest of the tab on the HDD is unfamiliar to me.

How do I do this connection and mounting correctly?

    Thanks

What i would do is buy an external usb enclosure for the drive and just leave it plugged in via usb port on the back of the desktop.

    That sounds great.
    Any recommendations?

Does the USB power the unit or do I need to AC it?

Depends on the enclosure you buy, but you can get both type.

I got it going in my desktop.

It was one of those "DUH" moments.

I have 3 SATA drives and all I needed to do was hook up the "extra" power plug to the 2.5".
