Any suggestions on a notebook sound card.... or is the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS all there is?? .....overpriced IMO

All there is really, I really like it but you have to make sure you have a decent PCMCIA controller.

Lots of USB soundcards out there. PCMCIA is preferred (if you have a slot). Echo Indigo is another PCMCIA card.

Any suggestions on a usb soundcard. I have a e1505 and find usb soundcards right on my budget, can't afford a pcm.. one right now so i guess i'll have to stick to usb..
is there a lot of difference in sound quality pcm... vs usb sound card? -
The audio quality should depend on the sound chip, not how it's connected (PCMCIA or USB). I prefer PCMCIA, because it's more internal than USB (can keep the card in the slot all the time without any cables and dongles), and it's more directly connected to the motherboard, thus is less glitch-prone.
