Hi, I have a new ASUS3 FKE notebook. I am a bit surprised, how much are chassis and adapter heating up. NB probe shows Normal CPU temperature, Everest Ultimate Edition shows CPU 1 51°C, CPU 2 58°C (Athlon 64 x2) and HDD temperature 42°C. Are these values commonly?

High power components get pretty hot, best bet for cutting temps is to prop up the back of your notebook, more air will circulate, and you components will run cooler and thus last longer.

@ ktron it depends really on where the fans are, my gateway now, the fans are all on the left side where the cpu and harddrive are located, so as long as my leftside can breathe and have air, i dont need to prop it up.

toshiba on the otherhand needs to be propped up because the fans are underneath which is totally inconvenient.

on a dell 8200 the fans are on the back. so back part needs space.

wherever your fans are located the best way to keep it cool is to leave a decent amount of space for it. Also turions do get hotter than intel chips, thats normal

Those temps are perfectly normal. The CPU temps are normal for Turion x2. Turion X2 actually reaches 80c at full load. Ask lokster ;)

You can always try purchasing a cooler for your notebook.
