Hi,
Does anyone know if there´s a program that can be used to control notebook fan speeds? Asus A6JA runs extremely hot long before the fan even starts to blow so it would be nice to manually make it work earlier.
Thanks for all the info in this!

yup.. i'm using it right now on my asus a6ja
search for SPEEDFAN -
You can use Speedfan
but other product i heard of ppl using it is Notebook Hardware Control. -
I think you can also try Rivatuner. Read this guide:

hey guys, does speedfan and nhc automatically detect the fans? I have installed both and I still have no clue to increase the speed of my fan or to detect them using both programs.
-
You can only change the fan speed on certain notebooks. The fan algorithm is hard coded into the BIOS.
-
Oh no, I have checked my bios, and it seems it doesn't support fan control at all -_-
-
Maybe see if there is a bios update for your laptop? My old HP DV6000t (just got a M1530 but it is probably the same thing), fan speed would change between the different bioses.

different bios's may alter the fan algorithm.. but he wants to have customised control of the fans.
you can do it with i8kfangui on dell notebooks -
i use this for my overclocked vostro 1500 ...works great; you can set custom fan speed points -
For the record, clevo m57rus, hp nx9420 , dell 1501 and hp pavilion 9 series`s fans cannot be controlled by software...
