Does anyone know how you can measure the brightness of your notebook screen, I think its measured in "nits", I'm a total newbie at this.
Do you also know if you can compare your value with those from other popular notebooks?

Ask vkyr. He's the master when it comes to notebook screens. Usually hangs around in the IBM/Lenovo forum, but will probably reply to a private message.

You need special (photometric) equipment.
You might ask about it in your college physics or optics lab.
