    Hi.
Are there screens specially cater for outdoor use? I am using HP DV6500 which has a glossy screen. Can't see anything under strong sunlight. Previously I was using HP ze5500(?) with a matter screen. Didn't work very well too.
Right now, I am more into Asus or Sager/clevo notebooks. I was wondering if their screens are any better.

    thanks!

For outside I recommend a LED screen.

Macbook Air and Sony TZ are very visible, even in bright sunlight. Even in direct sunlight.

LED screens are LCD screens but the backlighting is LED for the LCD is LED, most of the time when you go to pick the screen it will say LED.

LED backlit screens are typically thinner and with the current hype will be labeled or advertised as such. LCD is the type of screen. Most if not all laptop screens currently on the market have variants of LCD technology. There back lighting method is what differs LED (Light Emitting Diode) vs CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp). When OLED screens make their debut then that will be a whole new ball game...
