Which manufactors provide the best laptop screens. I know Sony is porbably the Top as their screens are phenomenal but what comes in as close seconds among the major manufuacturers: IBM, Toshiba, HP/Compaq, Fujitsu, Acer, Gateway?

Sony, Fujitsu and some Toshiba's(Qosmio) have the best screens. IBM's Flexviews are also pretty good from what I've heard. The rest of them are pretty close by and nothing spectacular as they tend to use the same LCD manufacturers.

IBMs Flexview screens are IPS and in terms of screen looks and viewing angles will beat any non-IPS screen on the market. However, although bright, it is not as bright as some of the screens by other manufacturers.

Sony and Fujitsu also have some IPS screens, not sure about Toshiba.

The problem with these other manufacturers (IBM excluded), is that they never tell you if the screen is IPS or not, they just tell you how bright it is and whether it is glossy, and so far I haven't seen a consistent list of models showing which screens are IPS and which aren't.

I spent my money on the FlexView, but I dislike glossy screens.
