This isn't the usual driver issue. I have a Dell e1705 and recently got the 7900 GS sent to me, installed, everything works fine. Upgraded the drivers/Yay.

Now here is the problem. The drivers, since they are intended for desktop use and have one little change, whenever I close my laptop the screen still stays on instead of the screen turning off (not the whole system, i have it set to not shut down when I close it)

    Help!

Well, as you said, you are using drivers that were made for a desktop card and modified for use on the notebook card. If you want the LCD to turn off when closed you are going to have to use the stock Dell drivers intended for use with the mobile cards.
