    Hello guys,

Finded a few verifications on forums from user who tested the 970m(even the 790m)as a upgrade in a dell m6600 precision workstation. They all endup with the same 0x0000005c bsod error code Hal_initializing_fail error.

They are stating that the following (unofficial) gpu upgrades are the only working ones on the m6600: gtx 680m, 670m and 6970, 7970m. So no 970m

The problem they are facing is, that its not accepted in/through the m6600 bios. It initialises the 970m as a Unknown display adapter. Its also initialises the 6 gb memory so the cars is not faulty.

Problem is, the machine won't bootup in windows and freezes on windows loading screen with above described bsod error. Even when you'll install it from scratch(booting windows from dvdrom as first boot device) it will crash after seeing the windows loading tab, with the same bsod error. So the m6600 combined with a 970m as upgrade, is useless ending up in a msdos environment :(.

So the seller is stating that the card would bootup in windows and the bios would initialise the card, only ending up to modifying the nvidia windows drivers nfo. file to make it work.

I'm think the m6600 bios isn't accepting the gpu, so maybe the solution would be adding the gpu to the efi/insyde(hdr) bios? Did opened the bios.rom file with hxd, than founded a gpu support list. Don't know if will work only adding the 970m to the rom file?

So can somebody help me out to make it work? or learn me how to do?

I would appreciate it very much/ donate it.

    Regards,

    Sander

Hi Sander, have you try the option by booting win 7 with UEFI? I been told by someone that the latest GC is only supported with UEFI, and it's not supported in legacy mode. Maybe you can give them a try in UEFI boot. by the way, which windows you try to install ?

Not that I want to steer you from the M6600, but the 8760w (HP's M6600 equivalent) is tested and working with up to 980m.
