OCZ Launches Agility 4 SSD Series

    Press Release:
OCZ Technology Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:OCZ), a leading provider of high-performance solid-state drives (SSDs) for computing devices and systems, today unveiled its new Agility 4 SSD series that delivers an ideal balance of 6Gbps SATA III interface speed, exceptional input/output operations per second (IOPS) performance, and enterprise-grade endurance and reliability all in a value-oriented SSD.

Utilizing OCZ’s cutting-edge Indilinx Everest 2 controller platform (first introduced in the flagship Vertex 4 SSD series), Agility 4 SSDs offer a cost-effective alternative to other SATA III SSD solutions in the market making them ideal for mainstream entertainment, gaming, and mobile storage applications.

Amazon JUST posted prices for the Agility 4 and they can be found at $149.99, $249.00 and $561 for the 128, 256 and 512GB versions. This becomes an SSD first as the 256GB version is the first release we have seen yet to break the $1/GB price barrier, the others being just about as close as you can get as well!

As an owner of the vertex 4 I can say the everest 2 controller doesn't live up to my expectations. Computer bsod's after sleep. Wont take a minimal recovery, bsods randomly. And last but not least doesn't work with the chipset in my new dv6.

The agility series is a less reliable version of the vertex manufactured using cheap parts. All of this is well documented on the ocz forums. People are in an uproar over the poor quality of the indilinx platform. I would suggest nobody buy this ssd.

Agree with above , I only want a SSD that just plug and play without tweaking , upgrade firmware etc to get it works , I just refunded my vertex 4.

How can OCZ continue to produce drives with so much issues, generation after generation?
I have 2 liteon ssd's and never had a single issue. I moved lots of times from win7 to win 8 and than back to win 7 and tried working with RAID and without RAID and never had a single BSOD :\ If RST 11.5 gets out and trim works great, I would rather prefer two simple SSDs (like liteon, plextor,ADATA,Micron) with Marvell controller RAID together, than buying this "ultra fast" OCZ drive which has tons of issues

Well the vertex 3 is a pretty reliable drive I had one that I ended up putting in my girlfriend computer. I don't know what ocz was thinking when they decided to release the vertex 4. The firmware needs to be updated to actually meet the advertised read and writes and upgrading the firmware makes it bsod more! I can understand wanting money but releasing a new generation of ssd's to accompany the new generation of processors and the ssd isn't even compatible with the HM77 chipset???? Lol ocz.

really seems like the V4 was meant to be a server SSD.

i got a client to get one for his desktop and it's been running perfectly on his Z77.

Jeez, my Vertex4 has been running beautifully. I do wonder about the sense behind the Agility 4 unless they can get some more price separation between the two.
