Hi guys, a quick question, whats a fair price for a OCZ Colossus ssd with 960gb? A local guy is selling alot of them for what I think to be a very reasonable price. They are 3.5 so I'll likely use one of them in an enclosure to keep programs.

Newegg.com has the OCZ Colossus 2 for 3089.00, and a web search returns results in the 2500.00 range. It comes down to what your willing to pay for it. Personally, for that price I will live wih a mechanical drive.

The price i've been given would allow me to buy two 2tb mechanical drives for a single colossus (damn it sounds like I'm buying ships or something) so I'm paying less than a fraction of newegg's price. I've bought a few but I'm wondering if I want to get the rest...

The price sounds way too good to be true if newegg is selling it for three grand. So I've been stressing the few I bought to see if there is anything wrong with them, so far they seem to be working fine.

None has failed so far, loaded it up to 860gb with no failures so I think its real. I'll go buy the rest the guy has, if they are fake I'm not out that much money and it would be the best fake I've seen.

True, but at it's good that its available to you. Devices of this type aren't practical for personal use. However they may have a price in an industry where time is money. In that case, there would be a justifiable purpose for purchasing one.
