Hi,
I'm interested in putting a 64gb ocz core ssd in a MSI-1651. Would there be any problems in doing this? Threads like these make me a bit nervous. If the SSD doesn't fit, or something likewise, a lot of $$ would go into thin air, as returns are not an option once I buy it. Therefore, I need to be 100% sure that it will work properly.
Thanks

The fitting is not really a problem. OCZ Core has other problems that are more important in my opinion. OCZ has announced the OCZ Core 2 soon to be released to fix these problems. I would suggest you wait for that to see if they have improved the very slow random writes.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll wait to see how V2 turns out.

Although it must be said that not everyone seems to be affected by the issues. These reviews on New egg give a pretty good idea.

There's also lots of horror stories on the OCZ forum as well. I'll just live with the 120gb 5400rpm
hard drive I have for a bit and see. Intel SSDs seem promising as well.

intel ssd's? interesting, it'll be tough to beat the 250gb that ocz is releasing with the v2, assuming all the probs are fixed. even though it's expensive, it sure gives you A LOT OF STORAGE. I'm definately getting one once i know they're problem free.

Intel SSDs on paper are far better than the OCZ SSDs (even the V2s) on paper. Intel has joined with Micron, which is reknown for its memory technology, I expect prices to really drop when they enter the market due to the massive increase in competition.

intel ssd's hmm? let's see what their prices are like and capacities.... can't wait. the thing is though, i can wait a while until ssd's drop prices and improve speeds and capacity, but i don't want to wait till mid 2009 or early 2010, i kinda want to get a new ssd..... NOW! but a good one, so i mean 1000 bucks for a 250gb v2 core series would be pushing it, but it depends on how well it performs (maybe it might cost more?)... but if intel can bring those suckers down then all the better.
