I need a new SSD in my laptop since my 3rd 840 Pro died on me.

Ocz vector hands down if cost is not an issue. Fastest write speeds and lowest access times on the market. Only issue is the high idle power consumption, especially vs the 840 pro. You stand to lose about 30 minutes of battery life. I went with the 840 pro for this very reason. Plus with the vector you get a free copy of far cry 3. Plus a neat perk is that the vectors use the rare 25mm intel imft Nand which should have much better endurance than the 20nm stuff they use for the m5p extreme.

Just judging from the past history of OCZ, I'd stay away from them. I haven't heard many, if any, complaints about Plextor though. SATAIII SSD speeds (seq read/write, random access, etc) are so blazingly fast that I highly doubt that you can subjectively tell the difference.

No complaints with my Vector 512 here coming up on 1 month. OCZ just updated firmware to 2.0 which provided a slight speed boost. I upgraded from a Samsung 830.

How hot does the Vector usually get after benchmarks or gaming?

Based on the 10 or so OCZ SSDs I've had over the years, I'd buy one again if I needed a SSD.

I haven't found any HD utility that can read the temp yet.

EDIT: Actually, I just verified that the Vector doesn't actually have a temperature sensor. The w530's HD is under the left palmrest - never noticed any heat at all.

The first SSD I bought was an OCZ Vertex 30GB about 3 years ago. It's still working perfectly (although slow by today's standard).
