I would say, don't buy OCZ. Long story short, they recently underwent a public relations disaster where they essentially poked a bunch of their customers in the rear, and were jerks about cleaning up the problem. And I am someone who bought 4 SSD's from OCZ in the past, and previously would have recommended them to anyone in a heartbeat.

So, buy whatever non-OCZ drive you can buy based on the SandForce SF-1200 controller. Mushkin Enchanced Callisto Deluxe is one of them. G.Skill Phoenix and Corsair F120 are also alternative brands that are pretty much identical to the Mushkin, in case you wanted a few alternatives for you to comparison shop in your region.

Yup I would go with what Kent1146 said, OCZ has proven themselves an unworthy company to buy products from. There are plenty of other manufacturers of SF based SSD drives, I would go for Corsair, their customer service is top notch. GSkill is also good.

Well Mushkin is guarentied 34nm and states they will be sure to change model numbers on the 25nm versions. supposedly they have a large supply of chips but this also could mean they are locked in on price and it may be a bit before we see prices come down if not actually go up..............

Just avoid OCZ, they are a trashy company. I've had numerous failed products from them and now after their PR disaster? No thanks!

Why must you buy in-person? Can't you get mail order in AU?

I would go with mushkin in a heartbeat, they have been in this market for quite some time, and the quality of their products have never fallen.

Which ever brand of Sandforce drive you want, ask someone with the same laptop model as yours and is using it for over say 3+ months.
