Hello all,
I wanted to put together a Whitebook using the DIY kit from Newegg:

I do not see an official list of support for the Q9000, but I see that other vendors offering the Arima 840DI do include the processor upgrade (Alienware, Xotic, etc). Could I buy the Q9000 and be assured that it will work just fine?
Also, if that is the case, where is the best place to buy? I usually go all-Newegg, but they do not seem to offer the Q9000 (that I can find).

Try Amazon, they tend to have everything... If that fail's E-Bay never does.
It will work as far as I know, there are some whitebooks with say Q9300 Extreme CPU's around here. -
That is kind of what I thought; the OCZ support guys--obviously--claim that the BIOS will not recognize any processors not on their official list without a BIOS update (which they do not provide); however, in another post a moderator confirmed that a processor would work that was not on the official list.

Well if high-end part of a specific line of CPUs works rest should work as well. And BIOS updates for OCZ DIY are available under the Drivers link.

See if anyone in this forum or OCZ's to see if anyone has tried it already. If they've gotten any mobile quad core working, then you will be fine.
OCZ Whitebook Barebones with Q9000?
