Wont work in any current machine.

Yes, there are reviews -- here's one. That said, the only way to get this display is to buy the new MBP -- even if you somehow got your hands on one (borderline impossible given that Apple has completely monopolized the supply), there is no way to get it to work with anything.

Well of course the MBP has one but I thought that was as obvious as stating the sky was blue.
-
It seems that the screen is average in terms of color depth, which means the DreamColor IPS RGBLED is still miles ahead of the retina. The only real advantage is the higher res but it requires software support.

Nothing to see here...

interesting...i thought it was IPS...if it is then why the poor color?
EDIT: Ok i went to the review and there is nothing about color accuracy. It just says contract brightness and blacks.
now that is awesome

I wonder how long it takes before the industry yet again follow Apple...

no 17'', no care.
-
I mean, atleast make a gaming notebook with IPS display for once in history.
Dear God? -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
it doesnt need software support, some programs might not work OK on all OSes, specially when you higher the scaling.
and the sky is black right now, and was grey today -

i bet it wont be long. Samsung was supposed to have a tablet in developement that has a 2560x1600 display

some members that have seen the retina display and are used to high gamut screens such as darklitch and myself can noticeably see its gamut is about the same as the old tn MBP 15" and that greens are certantly off.
and in your review see how bad the white levels are? its a good indication of bad gamut range in many cases

black levels tend to mean better contrast as the review shows is correct.
here is some data from a girl in DPreview.com who braved backlash

interesting. Also IPS response time is about as good as a low end TN. my U2412m is about as fast as my G51j-A1 TN screen...sucks looks better but sucks. I heard AMOLED has super fast response time but color gamut is too high to the blue. I wonder if it can be calibrated to be more accurate. If so maybe that is the way to some good color gaming screens

AMOLED does have super fast response times at higher brightness levels but AMOLED isn't comparable to any other display tech out right now other than the fact that some of them have RGB stripe. They have radically different controllers, radically different calibration techniques and different limitations. AMOLED has gamma adjustments for every brightness step in addition to color calibration. The thing that's holding back AMOLED is manufacturing. AMOLED OEM's like Samsung can produce working AMOLED panels easily, but it's producing them to match one another in every aspect that's difficult. Some will have a warm yellow tint. Some will have a cool blue tint. The quality varies wildly. -

IPS panels have a 12ms response time that is not horribly slow. TN are not much faster. they claim 2ms but that is GTG their actual response time is much slower.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
The point is, IPS = for viewing angles, color reproduction, it isn't exactly meant for gaming. Plus gaming, you are sitting right in front of laptop, so why does IPS matter? My R2's RGBLED WUXGA panel has a pretty wide viewing angle, but it's not like I carry it around everywhere.
OMG OMG OMG 2880X1800 IPS 15.4 dsiplay
