I use a M15x (specs in sig) and recently a very annoying and persistant problem has developed. When I start windows usually from the first instant the built in mouse and keyboard lag.

Oddly the Logitech wireless mouse I use suffers no lag at the same time while if I boot on battery the lag is normally not present.

It also is not consistant as sometimes when the machine is plugged in at startup the lag is not present but then either shortly aftewards or after prolonged use the lag comes back.

I cannot work this issue out. I have already disabled all unnecessary startup and services and uninstalled all mouse and keyboard drivers as well as making sure the mouse and keyboard settings are correct in control panel which they are.

Does anyone know the nature of this odd and irritating problem? Any help and advice is appreciated.

Try posting in the Alienware forums. May find someone else there with similar issues that found a solution.

I have finally found the culprit. The reason the keyboard and mouse lagged was the battery. Changed it and all is fine thus far.

After much research I discovered 2 sources througout the entirety of google that suggested a bad battery can cause ps/2 lag due to the power API recieving thousands of power interrupts in real time!

I had no idea of this and I hope my trials and tribulations will come in handy for others on NBR when they get into the same trouble.

Here is interesting link explaining the problem : http://keyliner.blogspot.jp/2009/11/windows-7-slow-keyboard-response.html
