is it even possible to upgrade the video card for that notebook? Unless it uses an MXM video card model, I doubt it is possible even to upgrade that video card. There have been video upgrades that delt with the i9300 notebook but that was possible because the upgraded video card that people bought was specifically made for the notebook. I would have searched for guides first before buying the 6800 go just to make sure it was even possible. Just my feedback, hopefully other can help clarify.

Wouldn't it say in your manual? Just a guess.

    or your notebook manufacturer's website?

    Google it.

    Cheers,

The video card is right there on the bottom of hte laptop. Just take off that big piece and you'll see it. I'd follow general Windows video card upgrade steps first though(i.e. change your driver to Standard VGA first before pulling the original card, etc...).

I use the drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com, specifically the 82.10 set with "performance" INF. Gives excellent perrformance, far better than the very dated stock Dell (or in your case Gateway) drivers.

Congrats on your purchase BTW. I'm sure you'll find it worthwhile. :gateway:

would really appreciate it if you answered a few questions. I'm in the same boat as you with the x700 64MB.

    Questions

    1. Where did you get the card. ( I have seen them on ebay but they are listed for Dell Inspirons 9300) Is it the same one?
    2. Did you figure out how to undervolt it yet?
    3. Does it boot up fine without undervolting it?

    Thank You for your time

PROPHETX you dead??? I emailed you and posted here. Please ehlp with a simple question where did you get the video card or at least a part number. I know teh oens on ebay for the dell 9300 will not fit our connector. If your alive it would be nice to hear from you. Also gateway now has the drivers for the M680 gateway with the gforce 256mb. It's to bad they won't sell the parts to the public.

    Thank you
