I've been meaning to post this on the forums, but it has never gotten this serious until today. A few weeks back I started noticing that at random times, and when my computer is unplugged and battery charging, it would suddenly act up and adjust brightness as if the plug is taken off and returned. I also see the tray icon for the battery lighting up. And then, when it is unplugged (like right now) it would suddenly act as if it gets plugged, and I could even see right now that the battery icon says that I'm plugged in, even though I'm not. Then it suddenly warned me on the critical battery level even though I'm still on 30+%! What's going on! This happened to me after I calibrated the battery using batcal, but if the battery isn't attached and I have it plugged in it wouldn't act this way..

Could the recalibration have messed up my battery or something?

Maybe you should only use licensed software for your hardware.
Chances are you ruined your battery, and the software to manage it on your laptop.

    Gj :\

call the laptop manufacturer? they are probably the best bet. while it could be a software issue (batcal?) it could also be that your battery got messed up.
As a question: have you ever run your battery to 0%? I mean have you ever just ignored the warnings and kept using your notebook? If so, did it shut down even at that 30% or did it just say battery 0% and stayed on for another 20 minutes or however much 1/3 of your battery life is?

One time it actually hibernated without any warnings, and then gave me the warning when I turned it on that it reached crit levels, only to find out that I still have 30% on it.. A while ago it also showed "30% (4 hours 40 minutes remaining) (whut?!)

The batcal thing is not licensed, yes, but users here in this forum use it as well and I think it's here where I actually got the guide. It didn't do this on one of my friends' laptops where I did the battery calibration thingy. It's odd that a software like that would have ruined my battery physically.
