Once again, I would ask some advice

    Hey,

I have few questions about my current laptop, what I'm going to use for hosting first. Before turning on VPS.

What are main components for hosting computer.
    I think it's more likely this way: Ram > Cpu > ? more ?.
    correct me if I'm wrong.

    My specs are:
    - System Model: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
    - Processor: AMD Turion(tm) II P540 Dual-Core Processor (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
    - Memory: 8192MB RAM
    - Total Space: 476.8 GB
    - Model: WDC WD5000BPKT-00PK4T0 ATA Device

Does ping have huge difference if laptop is using wireless connection, or its plugged in?

What is difference between Ram and Cpu eating power when more connections came into my laptop?

And what about that time what laptop is running?
    Does computer need "sleep"?
While hosting components tempatures are normal like idle laptop.

Well my english isn't the best, but if you can understand what I'm trying to say. And help me out that would be great.

    And thise more:

    While hosting without connections:
    Cpu: 0%
Ram: depends how much I give it.
    Java based light game engine.

Thank you for all those who can tell me something useful .

I would guess you want it plugged into a network (physical connection) that has the best upload speeds possible (for example; some connections are great for downloads, but less than 1/100 the speed for uploads (256KB/s...).

After that: you want a fast HDD and a lot of RAM that can Cache the data/files/'engine' you are hosting (and if you have the RAM available, let it use it all...).

The CPU you have should be adequate - how many connections are you expecting? I would guess that up to a dozen, you'll be okay (with each getting close to maximum performance, depending on your internet connection, of course).

The computer doesn't need sleep; but if you will be running it 24/7 I suggest a good notebook cooler (and leave the Screen open too).

    Good luck.
