Yet another reason to buy a 64bit Turion based laptop.

    http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/060309/sfth054.html?.v=46

Of course the value of this will be played down by the Intel-aholics and biased admins of this board who will still direct those who wish to play HD and DVD quality movies and have HD sound, towards the Intel based laptops that cannot playback HD quality video or HD sound on their laptops.

And don't dare recommending a laptop because it supports HD playback or 64bit computing to the newbies in the "what notebook to buy" forum, or you'll risk getting barred from posting there by this sites biased admins.

That's good, but you should be uh... a little less abrasive.

But actually, my laptop can play HD 720p movies well, even though it's just a 1.7ghz P-M. The problem with HD on windows lies with the decoder. libavcodec works perfectly, as compared to quicktime, which should probably be barred from all windows machines. Try it.

Where does it say that you can only play HD Playback on 64Bit only? It says Nvidia IGP based on 6100 supports hardware HD decoding( FYI that too if you their decoder) .

BTW I can play 720P as well as 1080P on my laptop as well as Desktop, one with P4 [email protected]( no 64Bit) and another Turion ML-37 without any problems.

Ofcourse you need less processing power if you use Nvidia based chipset with their decoder software as it takes advantage of Hardware features.

I am playing HD videos fine on my Pentium M 1.86GHz. I even hooked up my notebook via DVI to my HDTV and played 1080i on it - very cool.

Comments are welcome as always, but they need to stay non-hostile and appropriate.

This thread isn't even worth leaving open, probably confuse our readers and posters alike. Yomister is right - it's just the chip, not the CPU. ;)

    Decision? Closed.

64-bit, please refrain from posting factually incorrect information on our forums. Thanks.
