I'm sorry, but I sincerely disagree with having an entirely different site dedicated for desktops, that is hardly active. I am reposting my inquiries here, and if no one minds, I would like some input.

Well, exactly what is your question? Are you asking about the panel and technology inside, or whether or not it is a "good deal".

Because of the price, Im going with that its a TN panel, which of all the types listed in your quote, is the "worst" so to speak, as far as color reproduction/accuracy and viewing angles. Depending on how avid you are about photo editing, you may want a different monitor. The perk of TN panels is that they have the fastest response time of all panels, which is important for gaming.

Were I you, if I could, I would look at the Dell 2209WA; there should be a deal on it right now to get it for around $200 before shipping. Its only caveat is that the native resolution is WSXGA+, which may not be big enough for some ( if you prefer WUXGA ).

Some people are satisfied with TN panels, some are not. I can't tell which one you are.

Samsung F2380 is a good, affordable screen with cPVA panel.

Yes, I am asking about the different technologies, as well as whether this panel is a good deal. I do care about color reproduction quality. However, if it is not a noticeably unremarkable rendering, compared to similar priced displays, then I suppose it would not be a concern. I am looking for a display with the highest resolution (1900x1080/above) at an affordable price, preferably below $300/250, and maybe not a TN. Being able to tilt and turn would also be a plus.

In that case, the aforementioned Samsung monitor is your best bet as what you are asking for is quite the order ( assuming it does not use a TN panel ).

TN panels can have good color reproduction ( it depends on both the people viewing and the actual monitor in question ), its just that in general, others like PVA and IPS have better reproduction. This is one of the instances where you should go to your nearest BB or electronics store and actually have a look for yourself at their monitors to see for yourself.

How/where does one check for the panel used? What's the difference between PVA and IPS? Do all displays with PVA or IPS panels cost over $400? I don't think the resolution should be too high to get a display with PVA/IPS at an affordable price, is it?

Sorry for my flurry of questions. All for the sake of learning. :D

This should answer your question, though will likely add more.

I use this to help figure out what panel is in which monitor, though the list isnt complete.

Not all do; it depends on the exact panel, resolution and a few other things, though finding a PVA or IPS variant at 1920*1080 for < $300 is no small task, and Im not really even sure it can be done outside of ebay. Even the Dell 2209WA retails for about $300, and that uses and eIPS ( cheapest I believe ) panel and WSXGA+ resolution.

Here is a monitor using an S-PVA panel at WUXGA. Thats not to say they are all that expensive, but generally, they are quite expensive because of what they offer.
