I was going to buy 2 3TB drives for my backups of files that are going to be encrypted with TC. I saw on Newegg the retail one (STBD3000100) had much better reviews with much less failure rate...why is that so? Is that due to different packaging and getting damaged in shipping? Do you guy's think it really matters?
The price to newegg is fairly close plus i got 50 bucks of RSP and there is a 20% back going on today. I really need to work on my back up systems so i am anxious to order....i actually have no real back-ups....i know terrible.

they have once dropped 30 bucks lower right now but that was a once drop and this is the closest to lowest price in awhile and i honestly don't want to wait 1-12 months for a price watch since i have been playing with fire for....well...a few years ^^

I have heard newegg recently uograded the padding used to ship hard drives. So I would look at the recent reviews of both. I would wait a week or two for black friday deals though.

I just received a hard drive I bought from Newegg over the weekend, and they are very well protected.

yea that is a lot better than they used to...i got it from rakuten so i'll post how they protect theirs when i get it. *fingers crossed*. I won't use them much though...just for my TC file storage back up. Might turn it on once a month to update files and clone
Opinions between these two 3TB drives????
