I posted this in the MSI forum, but thought that this would work out over here.

My bluray drive was working perfectly fine last night. I shut the computer down and go to sleep. When I tried to burn some files for work I find out that it no longer works and find this in the "Device Manager" properties on the device:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

Any of you have had this issue before? How can I get this resolved?

Try using System Restore to set the machine back to an earlier point. This should almost certainly do the trick.

Just tried that from two different restore points and received the same message, twice:

"System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed.

    Details:

An unspecified error occured during System Restore."

The combo drive is still unrecognized in the system.

An unspecified error... thanks for being so helpful, Microsoft.

Did your Windows system recently install and updates? That may have caused the overnight malfunction.

Also, is the firmware on the drive up to date? You can get the most recent from the manufacturer's website.
