This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Optical Drive Sticky??

    I feel like there is so much information on this website than anyone with half a brain and a couple (or more) hours of time can make an informed decision about what laptop, RAM, HD, etc to buy without posting a question.

    The one thing I noticed missing is discussion regarding optical drives.

    Like a dummy guide explaining which brands are good, info about Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD, and other fun stuff like that.

    I for one bought a barebones and now am in the processing of searching for a high quality DVD burner.

    So anyone wanna help get this started??

    If you want to get a high quality DVD burner, go for NEC brand.

    I have been trying to find info about optical drive fitment too. Anyone know of a maker that offers a chart showing what models fit in what current model laptops?

    Stuff like that would be really helpful for sure.
